Doubling the Front

Command:
"
Double ranks forward to the left/right, (or Half-files, double your front by division)"

Half-file leader (man in red) moves forward to his left (or right) to stand alongside his File Leader (first man in gray).  The others of the half-file behind the man in red follow him. To see how a longer file does this doubling, click 'Advance' below.

Reduction of that doubling
Sergeant Subtlelus says:
Colonel Barriffe states this sort of doubling was very well approved of by:
  • Count Mansfield
  • Sir Thomas Kelly
  • Captain Bingham
  • "and divers other moderne souldiers of good esteeme..."

With that quality of endorsement, who can go wrong by using this doubling?
